Zion UCC hosts Music Academy

Zion United Church of Christ, Second and Iron Streets, Lehighton will be holding the second annual Music Academy starting Sunday, Aug. 7 and continuing through Aug. 11 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Zion UCC church .

The academy is open to the public and is for children and teens of all ages.This year there will be a middle school age and high school age band, vocal opportunities, and a music recorder class.Once again, they will also feature "recycled rhythm" which is a craft opportunity for youngsters to create rhythm instruments out of household and recycled items.Students who play in a school band are asked to bring their instruments.The program is under the direction of Bradly R. Cressley, Director of Music at Zion UCC and the assistant director is Laura Cressley who helped to create and co-direct the music academy last year as her senior project for Lehighton Area High School.This program is an outreach of Zion United Church of Christ and is completely free to the public.It was designed to expose children and teens to the joy of making music. Light refreshments will be served each night.The talents of the students will be showcased at a special concert on the last night of the academy at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.Children can show up on Sunday to register or can email Brad at
