Two popular Southern rock bands will be appearing Saturday night at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe.

They are The Marshall Tucker Band, with the opening act being The Bounty Hunter Gang.The Marshall Tucker Band is a Southern rock band originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina. The band's blend of rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, country, and gospel[1] helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s.The band has recorded and performed continuously under various lineups for nearly 40 years.They have never played less than 150 shows per year, sometimes playing as many as 200. They continue to play noting that their fan base is getting younger, but they credit that to the fact that their new fan base is probably the children of their original fans.The Marshall Tucker Band borrowed the name "Marshall Tucker" from a piano tuner whose name was found on a key ring in their old rehearsal space.Throughout their career, they have earned 7 gold albums and 3 platinum albums.In the '90's their success grew even more and they added 4 hits on Billboard's Country chart and one on Billboard's Gospel chart.
