Three persons were arrested following an incident in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Friday, Oct. 22, officers responded to 1831 Fairhaven Drive, in A Pocono Country Place, in Tobyhanna, to assist police from Newark, N.J., in serving a fugitive from justice warrant. They were attempting to serve papers on Shaquan M. Johnson, who was wanted for aggravated assault, possession of weapons and other charges stemming from a shooting in Newark. Newark police had received information that Johnson was residing at the above= stated address.When officers arrived Johnson was not found, however, during the course of the investigation another fugitive was found residing at the home, named Jamar Rasheed Murphy, 29, of Newark. He was wanted in Newark by the FBI after being indicted on a charge of distributing heroin.Murphy provided fake names to police during the investigation, as did others found in the home, in an effort to conceal his identity to police.During the probe police located evidence of drug use and dealing in the home. A search warrant was obtained and police seized marijuana, thousands of dollars in U.S. currency and evidence for the hindering from apprehension case against Tangia Nelson, 26, of Tobyhanna. At the time Nelson's 5-year-old son was in the home.Nelson was taken into custody and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, hindering apprehension, criminal conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance. She was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of $50,000 bail.Murphy was placed under arrest with similar charges and flight to avoid apprehension. Murphy is being held without bail due to the warrant issued to the FBI.Nelson's brother, identified as Shaton Nelson, 19, of Newark, who was present in the home was arrested for criminal conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance. He was issued a summons and released, police said.Police added the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police at (570) 895-2400.
