ESL/German teacher hired in Tamaqua

The Tamaqua Area School District's board of education approved a number of personnel moves at its monthly meeting Tuesday evening.

Susan Featro, Tamaqua, was hired as an English as Second Language (ESL)/ German teacher at Master's degree, plus 45, step six, $52,208.The board also hired the following people to the middle school

M.A.G.I.C. after school program: Jennel Yelito, teacher, at $22 per hour, and Wendy Dunkelberger, paraprofessional, at $9.50 per hour.Pamela Rehrig, Tamaqua, was hired as a full-time, highly qualified paraprofessional, at $8.30 per hour.Sonia Pucklavage, Tamaqua, and Brena Powlick, Orwigsburg, were hired as part-time paraprofessionals, at $7.75 per hour.The resignations of part-time paraprofessionals Stacey Prusak and Vickie Maynes were accepted, retroactive to Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, respectively.Helene D'Angelo was approved as an elementary school volunteer.Michael Kunkel, Tamaqua, was approved as an adult game worker.The following persons were added to the district's in-house security personnel for the current 2010-11 school year: Joseph Berezwick, Tamaqua; Tim Gombar and Jeffrey Reading, elementary school faculty; and Michael Kunkel, Ronald Miller, Michael Oakes and Bernard Witcofsky, custodians.Kelly Valentine, Tamaqua, was added as a substitute health room assistant.Karen Mateyak, Tamaqua, was approved as a volunteer high and middle school math tutor.The following persons were approved as substitute guest teachers: Robert Pickett, Tamaqua and Rhonda Dolen, Pottsville.The request of Vicki Feliciano, elementary teacher, for an unpaid leave of absence for Nov. 2-5, was approved.Cafeteria workers Kathy Williams and Carolyn Steigerwalt were granted unpaid leaves of absence for medical reasons. Williams' leave began Aug. 26 and ended Tuesday; Steigerwalt's leave was retroactive Sept. 21 to Oct. 4.The resignation of John A. Vecolitis, subsitute custodian, was accepted.Celeste Franko, Tamaqua, was approved as a cafeteria monitor. Cheryl Beers, Mary D, Marcy Yacobenas and Kathy Brobst, both of Tamaqua, were added as substitute cafeteria workers. Joyce Valentin, New Ringgold, was added as a clerical substitute.
