Accident case

A civil suit was started in the county court in which the defendant does not deny the blame for having his car strike the rear of a motorcycle and injuring the driver but disputes the amount of money sought by the injured party.James Weyand, Pottsville, brought the suit against Clyde Whipple, Brackney, Susquehanna County. The accident happened in June 2008 at the intersection of Liberty Street and Adamsdale Road in Orwigsburg.Weyand was thrown from his motorcycle and was knocked unconscious. He was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He claims suffering injuries to his head, shoulder and ankle. He spent four days in Geisinger and eight days in a rehab center in Pottsville. Weyand claims he suffered brain damage, still can't fully use his arm because of the shoulder injury and claims it is a permanent affect.The jury will rely on the amount of damages to be awarded from testimony of five doctors which are being called as witnesses. There testimony will be presented through showing of video tapes to the jury.The defense claims in 2004 Weyand suffered hip and shoulder injuries in a fall from a ladder. They also claim his head injury was a concussion. They further claim is that Whipple is only responsible for injuries suffered the day of the accident and not for past injuries.Medical bills of $21,880.32 are listed but Weyand seeks compensation for pain and suffering. Judge John E. Domalakes is heaing the case.Weyand is represented by Attorney Albert Evans, Pottsville, while Whipple by Attorney Allyn M. Starry, Hometown, a former assistant district attorney in Schuylkill County.Granted divorceDaniel J. Hewes, Saint Clair, was granted a divorce from Jennifer L. Hewes, Frackville. They were married May 29, 2004.Pleads guiltyShawn Francis Sukeena, 33, Minersville, pleaded guilty to a number of criminal charges and was sentenced by Judge John Domalakes to serve 11 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison. He received the sentence for delivery of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $200 and cost of prosecution, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $80 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.On a chage of criminal mischief to property of

T.N.J. Realty Restorations Company, Pottsville, he received a sentence of one to 12 months in the county prison to run concurrent with the drug sentence, pay $50 to CJEA, a fine of $100, costs of prosecution and make restitution of $500 to the company.
