And on Oct. 29 is the Halloween Party at 10:30 a.m.New members are always welcome to the center.Trick or Treat at MapleShadeSafe Trick or Treat will be held at MapleShade Meadows ALC for the first time, from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29. Children are to be in costume and bring bags for their loot. Only children in grades five and under will be included.LansfordFood pantryThe Lansford Food Pantry will be held on Monday, Oct. 18 from 9:30-11 a.m. in the gymnasium of St. Katherine of Drexel's Church on East Abbott Street in Lansford.The food pantry is held on the third Monday of each month and serves the residents of Lansford that meet the income guidelines. It is a nonprofit organization run by volunteers of the community.Food items are purchased by state and federal funding and from donations from local businesses and residents, which have been decreasing over the past few years.Anyone wishing to make a monetary or food donation, or who would like more information about the program, can contact Betty Pearson at (570) 645-3416 or Beth Dailey at (570) 657-7234.The pantry is in desperate need of the community's help, especially with the holidays approaching, as it would like to be able to give a little extra during this time, but cannot do it without more help from the community.Any businesses or groups interested in becoming involved in any way should contact the representatives listed above.All donations stay in the community, so take comfort in knowing you are helping your friends, neighbors and children of Lansford.Safe Trick or TreatVolunteers from the Lansford Food Pantry will be teaming up with the riders from Riders For Child Protection to help keep the children of the community safe on Trick or Treat Night in Lansford.Members will be riding their motorcycles throughout the town, especially through small alleyways and streets to help the local police, fire and ambulance personal. They will also be handing out Halloween candy gift bags to children during the night.Riders for Child Protection will also be participating in the Lansford Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 23, where you can speak to members about any questions you may have.
