Four area residents among 18 who enter guilty pleas

Four area residents were among 18 who entered guilty pleas recently in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.

Diane Marie Dankulich, 42, of 337 Valley St., Brockton, Schuylkill Township, was sentenced Thursday on a driving under the influence (DUI) to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison and granted immediate parole upon completion of her minimum sentence.She also must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and $60 to Schuylkil Medical Center. She has to complete the alcohol highway safety school and receive outpatient substance abuse counseling. Her driver's license is suspended 12 months. Dankulich was cited by Patrolman Warren Firing, Schuylkill Haven police, last March 10.Jeremy Hirochek, 19, of 39 W. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, on a charge of terroristic threats at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale last March 10 while a patient, was given credit for having served 20 days in the county prison and was placed on probation for 23 months. On one additional charge of terroristic threats and three counts of disorderly conduct received a sentence of 12 months probation on each count to run concurrent. Hirochek was cited by Patrolman Jeremy Talanca, Coaldale police.A charge of public drunkenness was nol prosed.Ian Patrick McGregor, 25, of 110 E. High St., Coaldale, DUI of drugs received credit for spending six days in the county prison and was placed on parole for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and receive outpatient substance abuse counseling.On additional charges, simple assault, he has to serve an additonal 12 months on probation and on another charge of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct was placed on probation for 12 months on each charge to run concurrent. On two counts of harassment was fined $200, failing to keep to the right side of the road, overtaking a vehicle on the right side, meeting a vehicle coming in the opposite directon and careless driving was fined $25 each and failure to wear a seat belt fined $20 plus $250 in costs. McGregor was cited by Patrolman Charles Blesse, Coaldale police, last March 3.Jarrett W. Hausman, 22, Coplay, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Oct. 1, at 9 a.m. and be paroled upon completion of tthe minimum sentence. Since he received credit for two days spent in jail he will have to serve only one day.He also must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, and $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. He has to complete the safety school and receive outpatient counseling. Hausman was cited by West Penn Township police on Aug. 23, 2007. He had previously been placed in the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program but it was revoked.Angela Nichole Schaeffer, 22, Schuylkill Haven, on a DUI charge was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, and $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. She also must attend the safety school and receive intensive outpatient counseling.On a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle owned by Byron Wasser, Pottsville, was placed on probation 12 months to run concurrent and on a charge of driving while her operating privileges were suspended was fined $200 plus $50 costs, make restitution of $1,225 to the victim and serve an additional 12 months on probation.Joseph Gavalis, 46, Ashland, violation of public welfare code, sentenced to serve 11 to 36 months in a state correctional institution, pay $50 to CJEA, $50 to district attorney for bench warrant and make restitution of $1,676.66 to the welfare department.On a charge of DUI received a sentence of three to six months to run concurrent with credit for having served 49 days, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, attend safety school, receive special counseling in the prison and on a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended received a sentence of 90 days to run concurrent and on a charge of driving without a license was fined $200 and costs.Michael Joseph Tassone, 42, Ashland, DUI, placed on probation six months, pay a fine of $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and receive outpatient counseling. His license is suspended 12 months.Tassone was cited by Sgt. William Dempsey, Saint Clair police.James B. Webb Jr., 27, inmate at the state correctional institution in Mahanoy Township, simple assault on another inmate, serve one to two years to run concurrent with the sentence now serving and pay $50 to CJEA.Eric Michael Klemow, 27, Frackville, recklessly endangering two small children who were unstrained in a vehicle, serve 12 to 24 months in a state correctional institution with credit for serving 19 days in the county prison and pay $50 to CJEA.On a DUI charge sentenced to serve six months on probation to run concurrent, pay a fine of $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA and $50 to district attorney's office. Klemow was cited by Patrolman Christopher Hand, Frackville police, on June 8, 2009. On a charge brought by Patrolman Anthony Kankowski of harassing Brian Bernotas on September 9, 2009 was placed on probation for six months to run concurrent.Marcos Casado Guerrero, 20, Hazleton, access device fraud by removing credit card from car of David A. Barton, Pottsville, was given credit for serving 330 days in the county prison and was placed on probation for 11 months and pay $50 to CJEA.Clint Gerard Cavanaugh, 35, Pottsville, DUI, sentenced to serve one to five years in the county prison and is eligible to participate in work release program, pay a fine of $2,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $200 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, receive intensive outpatient counseling. On a charge of driving while operating privileges were suspended-DUI related, was fined $1,000 and serve 90 days in prison to run concurrent. Cavanaugh was cited by Patrolman Christopher Hand, Frackville police, last March 14.Denise Marie Hubler, 45, Port Carbon, DUI, sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and receive intenstive outpatient substance abuse counseling and her license is suspended 18 months. Hubler was cited by Trooper Jeffrey Hummel on Nov. 22, 2009, in East Norwegian Township.Emilio S. Jack, l9, Pottsville, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia placed on probation 18 months, pay $200 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. Jack was cited by Pottsville police.Brandon Michael Bowers, 26, Pottsville, on two DUI's, sentenced to serve five days to 12 months in the county prison beginning Thursday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m., pay fines of $1,500, pay $400 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $100 to CJEA, $120 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and receive outpatient counseling. He had previously been placed in the ARD program which was revoked. He was cited by Chief Jon Bowers, Port Carbon police, on Aug. 29, 2009, and by Trooper Wesley Levan last New Year's Day in Norwegian Township.Nadine Marie Mason, 27, Schuylkill Haven, possession of drug paraphernalia at her home, sentenced to serve 12 months on probation, pay a fine of $100, pay $100 to SAE fund and $50 to CJEA.Michael Joseph McManus Jr., 23, Ashland, involved in accident striking the rear of a car driven by James Lopez in Pottsville last Jan. 20, was sentenced to serve 12 months on probation, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $500 to Lopez and $2,500 to Hartford Insurance Company.John Meulstee, 56, Schuylkill Haven, selling or furnishing alcohol beverage to a minor, was given credit of 28 days served in the county prison and placed on parole for 12 months, pay a fine of $1,000 and pay $50 to CJEA. Meulstee was cited by Patrolman Warren Firing, Schuylkill Haven police, on April 10, 2008.Steven Gene Berti, 37, Minersville, passing seven stolen checks in stores, was given credit for serving 59 days in the county prison and released on probation for 35 months, pay $350 to CJEA and $50 to district attorney's office. He also must make restitution of $653.70 to Way Mart Store for six bad checks and $247.34 to BG Value Market for one check.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
