Alicia G. Oertner and Joseph A. Dougherty III exchange vows

Alicia Gisele Oertner, New Ringgold, daughter of Conroy and Doris Oertner of Tamaqua, and Joseph Aloysius Dougherty III, son of Joseph and Laureen Dougherty Jr., Eynon, were united in marriage on May 8, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tamaqua. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Phyllis J. Wolford. John Fredericks, Lehighton, was the organist, while Maria Lieberman of Bethlehem and Renae Hansen of Patchogue, N.Y. were the vocalists.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Maria Lieberman as maid of honor, and Renae Hansen as matron of honor.Bridesmaids included Shalissa Ferguson, Tricia Dougherty and Danielle Ohl. Fallyn Oertner was the flower girl.Justin Gaudenzi and Jerry Gillette shared best man duties. Ushers included Eric Oertner, Robert Ferguson, Sam Sebastianelli and Robert Munley. Gavin Ohl was the ring bearer.The couple welcomed family and friends at a reception held at Carmen's Country Inn in Drums, followed by a honeymoon trip to Bermuda.The new Mrs. Dougherty holds a master of science degree in occupational therapy from the University of Scranton. She is self-employed as an occupational therapist with early intervention pediatrics.Mr. Dougherty holds a bachelor's degree in management from the University of Scranton. He is currently pursuing a degree in physical therapy at Penn State.The newlyweds currently reside in New Ringgold.
