One of the highlights of the year at Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home in Kunkletown is the annual Pet Show.

"Our residents enjoy having visitors from the community, especially the four-legged kind," said Carrie Shafer, activities coordinator.The invitation went out to the community to bring in animals with current updated shot records for the 4th Annual Pet show.Mary Jane Sterling of Summit Hill brought her 2 1/2 year old Scottish Terrier, Dougal, dressed in a kilt and a Tam o' Shanter."He goes with me to ring the bell for the Salvation Army at Christmas time and he is a therapy dog," Sterling told the residents.Barbara Schneck of Walnutport brought Snuggles, her 2 1/2 year old Bichon Poodle."He got his name because he likes to snuggle," said Schneck.Haley White of Effort said her dog, Lanie, a three-year-old Shihpoo doesn't do any tricks."She loves to give kisses and she's just cute," she said.Mason and Lisa Rabenold of Andreas introduced Biscuit, a two-year-old Corgi."He was a special delivery from Santa," Mason said and Lisa added that he likes to herd their 19 chickens at home."We tell him to 'Bring the girls home' and he does," said Lisa.Marci Marsicano of Hazleton brought her two year-old Golden Retriever, Annie Mae and showed everyone how he can do a "High Five."Aisha Cramer of Kresgeville and her two-year-old Basset Hound, Buddy, loved chatting and playing with the residents.The residents then voted for their favorites in four categories: the Most Talented-Dougal; Largest-Annie Mae; Most Well-Behaved-Biscuit; Cutest-Everyone.Their prizes were certificates and homemade dog biscuits made by the residents and a certificate.And then the residents all received their prizes-spending time petting, coddling and sharing smooches with the pooches."The most important part of the show is seeing the smiles from residents, community members and staff," said Carrie.
