Chelsea Mullins excelled in Cross Country at both Jim Thorpe High school and Moravian College. She graduated from Jim Thorpe in 2001 and went on to compete for four years at Moravian where she finished in 2005. Her specialties during her eight-year career were the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races.

Mullins placed first in 40 out of 41 dual and tri-meets at Jim Thorpe. In 2000 and 2001, she finished first in the Lions Invitational Meet sponsored by Moravian Academy in Bethlehem. In District 11 competition, Mullins finished second in both 1999 and 2000. Then in 2001, she won the championship in her event and became the first District 11 Cross Country champ in the history of Jim Thorpe. At the PIAA state championships, she earned a medal in all three years of competition, finishing 21st in 1999, 17th in 2000 and 11th in 2001. She established course records at Salisbury, Shamokin, Freeland MMI and Mauch Chunk Lake Park and was named the MVP in Cross Country for her entire high school career.After graduating from Jim Thorpe, Mullins began another successful career at Moravian College. She was named to the All-MAC team in Cross Country each of her four years and was the Co-MVP and Co-Captain of the team her senior year. She was a member of the team that finished third at the NCAA DIII championships and just missed going to Nationals. After college, she began training for the marathon hoping that she might be able to qualify in the Olympic trials. A heel injury prevented her from doing that, so she joined the Northampton Cycling Club of Northampton, Mass., competing in Sprint Triathlons which consist of swimming, cycling and running.Mullins is currently attending the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where she is working on her Masters Degree in Social Justin Education.The Jim Thorpe Sports Hall of Fame Inductions banquet will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall.
