A Pottsville man, who pleaded guilty to two counts ogf sexual assault of a person under 16 years of age, drew a long state prison sentence from Judge D. Michael Stine Wednesday in the Schuylkill County court.

The plea was entered by Sean Patrick Cooke, 20, on two counts of statutory sexual assault filed by Trooper Bernard Spece last Nov. 28 and he was sentenced to serve 18 to 36 months in a state correctional institution. On two charges of indecent exposure he received a sentence to serve an additional five years on probation. During his period of incarceration he must undergo evaluation to determine if he is a sex offender and received treatment if so ordered. He has been in the county prison since Jan. 11.Other casesStine also sentenced 10 others who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges.Donna Kay Detwiler, 49, Reading, pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sexual offender as required by law and was sentenced to serve 18 to 36 months in a state correctional institution with credit for serving in the county prison from Nov. 3, 2009, to the present. According to Sgt. Willliam Dempsey, Saint Clair police, she failed to register afer moving from Reading. She also was ordered to pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA).Kenneth Edward Kuhn, 59, North Fort Myers, Fla., pleaded guilty to a charge brought by Patrolman Renee Galle, Pottsville police, of loitering and prowling in the on Elk Avenue. He was placed on probation for 12 months during which period he cannot have contact with residents in that area. He was given credit for serving time in the county prison since Feb. 4.Fabian M. Diaz, 21, Shenandoah, pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal conspiracy lodged by Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey, Pottsville police, and was sentenced to serve 11 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison and was given credit for having served 115 days. On a charge of robbery he received a concurrent six to 12 months sentence but on a charge of simple assault received a sentence of 12 months additional probation. He also must pay $50 to CJEA, make restitution of $50 to the district attorney's office and make restitution of $21,119 to the victim of the robbery.Brandon Mark Kester, 28, Reading, pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, and was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correction facility. The sentence is to run concurrent with a sentence he is now serving imposed by Chester County Court. He also must pay $50 to the CJEA fund.Corey Jay Leininger, 38, Pine Grove, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, pay $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, make restitution of $191.36 to district attorney's office for bench warrant fees and costs, undergo intensive outpatient counseling and mental health evaluation.On a charge of possession drug paraphernalia he received a 12 months probation sentence and on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana a 30 day probation sentence both to run concurrent. Leininger was cited by Patrolman Yourey in Pottsville on Nov. 7, 2008. On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended he was fined $200 plus $50 costs.Michael J. Mayersky, 24, Shenandoah, pleaded guilty to a DUI charge and was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, and undergo intenstive outpatient substance abuse counseling. On a charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $200 and $50 costs and on the charge of failing to carry car insurance was fined $300 plus $50 costs and perform 10 hours of community service. Mayersky was cited by Trooper Mark Ruscavage when stopped last Jan. 17 in West Mahanoy Township.Mayersky also pleaded guilty to 36 counts of access device fraud and his sentence was concurrent to the DUI sentence imposed, however, he must make restitution of $2,780 to Cheryl Lekavage, Shenandoah, the victim.Kimberly Ann Rodgers, 33, Harrisburg, pleaded guilty to theft of nine business checks belonging to Dennis W. Sites Sr., Wayne Township, owner of Denny's Hot Rod Bar and Grille and was sentenced to serve 11 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison and on a charge of theft to serve an additiolnal five years probation and make restitution of $7,770.96Robert Dean Steffie, 39, Auburn, pleaded guilty to charges of theft, resisting arrest and unauthoried use of a motor vehicle and was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution. On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended was fined $1,000 plus costs and a 90 day jail sentence to run concurrent. On a charge of public drunikenness was fined $100 and costs. Steffie was cited by Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner, Schuylkill Haven police, last Nov. 25.Irvin Charles Washington, 24, Pine Grove, pleaded guilty to theft of property from the resident's of Paul and Tara Karenda, 16 Maple Avenue, Pine Grove, and was sentenced to serve four to 23 months in a state correctional institution consecutive to a sentence now serving. His aggregate sentence totals 14 months to 58 months.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision feel while on probation or parole.
