The Tamaqua Board of Health held its May meeting with Randolph Gormley, Earl Boettger, James Gormley and Shirley Becker in attendance.Health Enforcement Officer James Barron submitted his monthly report, including making a general inspection at Confetti's and six spot check inspections.He also received and adjusted five complaints; two concerning rubbish/trash, two complaints about dog dirt, and one infestation.There were no cases of reportable diseases for the month.The board reminds residents of borough ordinances pertaining to dog waste.Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up their own properties in a timely manner and anyone who walks their dog is responsible for cleaning up after their pets.Violations should be reported to Tamaqua Borough Hall, (570) 668-3444.Please provide the place, date, time and name of the dog's owner.Citations will then be filed through the office of District Magistrate Stephen Bayer.Senior newsThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met last week with 86 members in attendance.Two new members, Mary Melochick and Erma Haas, and one guest, Ronald Bower, were welcomed.The business session was conducted by President Jean Machamer. Helen Wetterau was welcomed back after an extended absence.Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled." Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld provided her weekly report. Vice President Doris Brobst reported sending a get well card to Pat Regalis.Members enjoyed a pizza party.The next meeting will be held May 20, at 1 p.m., at the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart.The meeting will include a celebration of April and May birthdays. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Class of 1950The Tamaqua High School Class of 1950 is planning an anniversary reunion. Current addresses are needed for the following class members: Sam Wall, Sonia Guresh Chrobak, Kenneth Smith, William Smith, Charles Yacovelli, Joan Kantner and Melvin Breiner.Anyone with information may call (570) 668-0333.First MethodistMay 23 is Camping Sunday. The Rev. Ron Shane will deliver the message, and the Rev. James Cavellero will officiate, at the 9:30 a.m. service in Salem United Methodist and the 10:45 a.m. service in First UM Churches.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, Senior Choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.Family Day will be celebrated on June 6, when 50-year members will be honored and the Trevorrow Scholarships will be awarded.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Chris McCarthy, a CEF missionary, will be guest speaker. Nursery care is provided.Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Tamaqua Youth Ministry will meet at 7 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m.; Wednesday, TYM, prayer and Bible study at 6:30 p.m.;
