Borough meetingsThe Lansford Borough Council has announced the following committee meetings for the month of May:Thursday, May 6 - Grants Committee, 6:30 p.m.Monday, May 10 - Facility Planning Committee, 6:30 p.m.Wednesday, May 12 - Council Meeting, 6:30 p.m.Monday, May 24 - Public Safety Committee, 6:30 p.m.; and Public Works Committee, 7:30 p.m.Tuesday, May 25 - Municipal Administration meeting, 6 p.m. in the Borough Office.Thursday, May 27 - Parks & Recreation Committee, 6:30 p.m.; and Community Development, Planning, Zoning and Ordinance Committee, 7:15 p.m.Townwide yard saleThe Lansford Community Yard Sale will be held Saturday, May 15. This is a townwide event in which residents are not required to obtain a permit to conduct individual sales at their homes/properties. A rain date of Sunday, May 16, has also been set.Upcoming novenaSt. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, has scheduled a three-day novena in honor of St. Rita of Cascia for Thursday through Saturday, May 20-22.The novena will begin with a Mass at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, followed by Mass at 7 p.m. Friday, May 21, after which time Anointing of the Sick and novena prayers will take place.The novena will conclude on Saturday, May 22, with a 9 a.m. Mass, followed by the blessing and distribution of roses.The church choir will participate during the novena.PV Knee-HiThe next regular monthly meeting of the Panther Valley Knee Hi will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, at The Sports Zoo, Lansford. Anyone interested in coaching is urged to attend.Lansford AliveThe next regular meeting of the Lansford Alive general membership will be held on Thursday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Rosie's Restaurant. Light refreshments will be served. Local business owners and interested members of the community are welcome to attend.Food pantryThe Lansford Food Pantry is headquartered in the gymnasium of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church. The pantry is a nonprofit organization that serves the residents of Lansford on the third Monday of every month.
