Four area residents were among 13 who recently entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in the Schuylkill County Court and were now sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin as follows:

Paul J. Kropp, 54, of 124 Penn St., Tamaqua, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol was sentence to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison. He reports to prison on Tuesday, March 30, at 9 a.m. and when he completes his 72 hours he is eligible to be granted immedate parole.He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrohe fund, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and receive outpatient counseling. Kropp was cited by Patrolman Thomas Rodgers, Tamaqua police, last Sept. 23.Jonathan Todd Creveling, 38, of 175 N. Seventh St., Lehighton, on a charge of giving a false identification to Auburn police, was placed on probation for 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. On a charge violating the speed limit in Auburn by traveling 52 miles-per-hour in a 35 zone was fined $59 plus $50 costs. Creveling was cited by Chief Anthony M. Kuklinski last April 18.Michael Christopher Gallagher, 29, of 127 Greenwood St., Coaldale, on a charge of DUI was placed on probation six months, pay $100 to SAE fund,. pay $50 to CJEA fund, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. On a charge of a driver required to have a license was fined $200 plus $50 costs. Gallagher was cited by Patrolman Todd Weiss, Coaldale police, last May 1.Lauren Lin Newhard, 24, of 50 Wiggan St., New Philadelphia, on a charge of receiving a stolen cell phone was placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $6,527.72 to the victim. Newhard was cited by Trooper Chad Smith on April 8.Travis Alan Long, 56, Slatington, on a chage of theft by deception by failing to honor a contract to install a fence on property of Joseph Mulqueen 74 Stoneledge Lane, West Penn Township, was sentenced to serve six to 24 months with the sentence to run concurrent with a sentence now serving in Northampton County prison. He also must pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $1,800 to the victim. Long was cited by Patrolman Joseph Lorah, West Penn Township police, last Aug. 15.Jared Joseph Moran, 21, Minersville, on a charge of criminal conspiracy to commit theft was placed on probation for 36 months, and pay $50 CJEA fund. On charges of criminal trespass and theft was placed on probation for 24 months to run concurrent with the first sentence. He also must make restitution of $1,800 to UniMart Store, Minersville. Moran was cited by Patrolman Thomas Hoban on May 21, 2008.Rameen Maleki, 25, Herndon, Va., on a charge of DUI began a sentence of 72 hours to six months on Monday, March 29, at 9 a.m. in the county prison and when he completes sentence will be released on parole and pay a fine of :$1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, pay $50 each to Catastrophe and CJEA funds, restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center and undergo intensive outpatient counseling. On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana drew a concurrent 30 day probation sentence and failing to drive his vehicle at a safe speed in rain or fog was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Maleki was cited by Trooper Michael Becker when stopped on Interstate 81 in Frailey Township last July 2.Patrick Matthew Partington, 22, Saylorsburg, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation for 12 months and on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was given a concurrent 30 day probation sentence, pay $100 to SAE fund and $50 to CJEA fund. On a charge of being involved in an accident with a parked vehicle near the Pine Street Pub last Aug. 5, was fined $300, driving while his operating privileges were suspended, fined $200 and careless driving, fined $25 plus costs of $150. Partington was cited by Patrolman Matthew Bynon, Tamaqua police. He also must make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Lynne Anne Kowal, 37, Springfield, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance when checked at the entrance to the state correctional facility in Ryan Township was placed on probation for 12 months with the sentence to run concurrent with a sentence now serving in Delaware County prison. She also must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Kowal was cited by Trooper John Sleboda.Daniel Michael Saranchak III, Pottsville, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months with the sentence to run concurrent with a sentence now serving in Lebanon County prison. On a chage of possession of a small amount of marijuana and defiant trespass received a concurrent 30 day probation sentence. He also must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Saranchak was cited by Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey, Pottsville police.Christopher M. Treadwell, 20, Slatington, on a charge of retail theft from Walmart Store in Hometown, Rush Township, was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Treadwell was cited by Patrolman Scott Cramer last Sept. 20.Benjamin Paul Kline, 23, Pottsville, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison and after serving his minimum time last Thursday and Friday was released on parole. He has to pay a fine of $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, and restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended was fined $200 and for disregarding the proper traffic lane fined $25 plus costs of $100. Kline was cited by Trooper Michael D. Marinchak when stopped in Pottsville last April 9.Kimberly Faith Aregood, 41, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for 24 months with the first six months to consist of inpatient drug and alcohol treatment program, receive intensive outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, submit to random drug screen and one breathalyzer test per week, perform 40 hours community service, pay $100 to SAE fund, $150 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On a second charge of delivery of a controlled substance received a concurrent three year probation sentence, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $150 to county drug task force.All defendants must pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
