That was their thought after the Polk Township supervisors voted 3-0 for a zoning ordinance amendment, in spite of concerns of loss of tax revenue on the part of the township Planning Commission, which had voted 3-1 against making the change to allowing churches in the commercial zone as a conditional use.It is the Kelly's dream to be in the church, "hopefully by this summer," though they learned more of the legal steps that must be taken after speaking with zoning officer Gerald Zurat during an executive meeting of the board that pertained to property matters.The Polk Supervisors also voted 3-0 on several other items including beginning court actions against an El-Do Lake property owner who has not corrected reported raw sewage leaks of his turkey mound and adding 24.7 acres of land on Mountain View Drive belonging to George and Donna Cichowicz to the township's Agricultural Security Area.The board also voted in accord to having six heat and eight smoke detectors added to the municipal building to the cost of $1,850.The supervisors also agreed unanimously to authorize the township fire police to be involved in providing traffic control for the 2010 Black Bear Triathlon being held May 22 and May 23.They set a public hearing for a conditional use application for Julia and James Saeger for 7 p.m., Monday, April 26, noting that said application must first go before the Planning Commission. A telephone call to the Saegers will be made explaining more details in the conditional use hearing process.The trio approved a planning module for the Paul W. Geer minor subdivision and received reports from various township employees as well as reminding residents that the Census Bureau would be in the municipal building on Thursdays, March 25, April 1 and April 8, to help residents fill out the Census forms, or replacing lost ones.Work continues on finding the best prices for recyclables as well as researching the legality/liability for allowing the township fire company volunteers to conduct a coin toss fundraiser.
