Writers conference

The Black Diamond Writers Network will conduct the region's first writers conference on April 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Schuylkill County Council for the Arts Center, 1440 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.Keynote speaker will be Kathryn Crofy, owner of Writing-Partner.com. Her topic will be "Coming to Terms With Life: An Artist's Approach."Day long events will also include eight workshops on writing-related topics as well as an author book fair.For more information, contact Kathy Ruff at (570) 645-3059. The Salvation Army gym will be turned into a blood collection center. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m.Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health is eligible to donate blood.This visit will be sponsored by the Daniel Bingaman Insurance Agency.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery service will be provided. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship.
