Five WEBELOS Scouts from Cub Pack 567 in Jim Thorpe participated in a special ceremony that has earned them acceptance into Boy Scout Troop 555, also in Jim Thorpe. The Arrow of Light ceremony took place at the pack's annual Blue and Gold Banquet last Saturday at the Split Rock Lodge in Lake Harmony.

Boys start out as Cubs in the organization as young as 6 years old and then graduate up to WEBELOS (WE will BE Loyal Scouts) during fourth and fifth grades.They can become Boy Scouts when they enter the sixth grade. Young men can remain in the organization after reaching their 18th birthday but cannot continue to advance in rank. The six new scouts that entered Troop 555 last week will start out as Tenderfoot Scouts and can advance all the way through to Eagle Scout, the organization's top rank. More than 35 Scouts from Troop 555 have made it all the way to Eagle Scout. Boys have been working through this program since 1930.The Arrow of Light ceremony is conducted to advance the Cub from WEBLOS to Scout. The Arrow of Light is the only badge from Cub Scouts that can be worn on a Boy Scout uniform.
