Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A traffic stop in Jim Thorpe led to the arrest of the driver on drug charges.

Police officer John Donato stopped a vehicle in front of the Gulf Service station at 57 Susquehanna St. about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Jerry Catalano Jr., of 53 Penn Forest Drive, Albrightsville. Through an investigation nine baggies containing suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.Catalano was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of $40,000 percentage bail.
