Rick Springfield will heat-up Penn's Peak, Fri.

When you read this, there probably will be blizzard-like conditions raging outdoors.

On Friday night, things are sure to heat up at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe.Performing will be Rick Springfield, with showtime set for 8 p.m.Tickets will be available at the door. Prices are $42 and $37.It's one of two nights when rock 'n roll music pulsates through the spacious Carbon auditorium.On Saturday night, the featured artist is Big Shot, which is billed as "the ultimate Billy Joel tribute band." Tickets for the Saturday performance are $22 at the door.Springfield has had hit songs, starred on a long-running network soap opera, and was the star in a major movie, "Hard to Hold," which co-starred Janet Eilber.Among the hit songs are "Jessie's Girl" and "Love Somebody."In 2008, the Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter released the album Venus In Overdrive. The album was Springsteen's first full-length studio work since 2003.In 1981 after years of struggle, Springfield found himself sitting on top of the world. In the midst of recording what would become the quintessential pop/rock album Working Class Dog, Rick was cast to the play the young, eligible Dr. Noah Drake on the popular daytime drama "General Hospital."That same year, MTV debuted and changed the dynamic of the music industry forever. Rick skyrocketed to the top of Billboard's charts with "Jessie's Girl" and "I've Done Everything For You,".
