Carbon County chorus to perform in Palmerton

Palmerton Area High School will provide the platform for the 2010 Carbon County Chorus to no doubt stage a memorable performance.

The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $4 for adults, and $2 for students.Students from Palmerton, Lehighton, Weatherly and Pleasant Valley school districts will participate, said Joseph Plechavy, Palmerton Area High School music teacher.Plechavy said this year's guest conductor is Randall Perry of Jim Thorpe, founder of the Bach and Handel Choarale. Perry began his career in church music at the age of 11, and has continued to serve parishes ever since.The concert will include "For the Beauty of the Earth" by John Rutter, "The Lord is My Shepherd" by Howard Goodall, "Let All Mortal Flesh" harmonized by Katherine K. Davis, "Banquet Fugue" by John Rutte, "The Lone Wild Bird" arr. by Ruth Elaine Schram, "God's Simple Gifts" arr. by Ann Laura Page, "Cold and Fugue Season" arr. by Ellen Foncannon and "May the Road Rise Up to Meet You" by Robert Lau.Rehearsals will take place all day Thursday in the Palmerton High School auditorium."This is a wonderful opportunity for other schools to meet, socialize and make wonderful music together," Plechavy said.
