Country, Hollywood on luncheon show lineup

The recent warmer temperatures have many thinking about spring.

One cure for cabin fever is a luncheon show at Penn's Peak, with the season kicking off in April. This year there is quite a varied line-up.The sound of Branson, movie music, and big bands are are slated, although two big bands coming to the Peak this spring already are sold-out.For all luncheon shows, reservations are required and can be made by calling toll-free at 877-764-6328.Making their debut for a luncheon show on April 27 and 28 will be "Branson Fever," presented by veteran Dave Rehrig and Tim Gillis. Also on the show will be Crazy Elmer.King Henry & The Showmen return to the auditorium in the sky in May with "Oscar Goes to Hollywood."More information on dates and times can can be obtained from the Penn's Peak website (www.pennspeak.com) or by calling the above number. The King Henry shows are every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in May except for May 27.Dave Rehrig of the Twitty Fever Band always does a tribute to one of country's greatest all-time performers, the late Conway Twitty. You can always count on Rehrig to sing such Twitty favorites as "Hello Darlin'," "Linda On My Mind," or "Tight Fitting Jeans."The Twitty Fever Band is more than this, though. It does a mixture of top 40 and classic country hits.The Tim Gillis Band is New Jersey's most popular country music dance band. The nine-piece group features pedal steel, fiddle, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, as well as three highly talented female vocalists.Doors open at 11:30 a.m., lunch is at noon, and the Branson Fever begins at approximately 1 p.m.King Henry & The Showmen have been doing their spring, summer, and fall shows at Penn's Peak for several years.This year, having the theme "Oscar Goes to Hollywood," the band salutes the films and songs of Hollywood.King Henry & The Showmen is recognized as one of the country's premier show groups, having performed their award-winning shows from Las Vegas to Atlantic City and from Toronto to Miami Beach.Since each of the members sings and plays many different instruments, they are able to present a wide variety of music and entertainment. Of course, their comedy routine always is a hit to the audience members.
