Palmerton man gets probation for corrupton, indecent assault

A former Palmerton borough employee was placed on probation Monday on charges of corruption of minors and indecent assault involving two 18-year-old male victims.

Larry Wanamaker, 54, was placed on 36 months probation by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb after previously pleading guilty to the two charges.Wanamaker was arrested by borough police for having inappropriate contact with two teens while employed for the borough. He has since been dismissed from his job.Borough police charged that Wanamaker had inappropriate conversations with the two teens while working with them.Wanamaker told the court he has and continues to receive counseling for his problem and told Webb, "I'm very sorry for the choices I made. In no way would I ever do anything like that again, I know that in my heart."Webb imposed the 36 months on the corruption count and 24 months probation on the indecent assault charge with the terms running concurrently.Webb also ordered that Wanamaker have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 and must make restitution of $870 to one of the victim's for loss wages. He must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee.
