A Schuylkill County woman was killed in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 1:56 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, along SR183, about 500-feet south of Schuylkill Mountain Road, in Wayne Township.

Troopers said Michele Ann Gilbert, 56, of Auburn, was driving a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound when the vehicle left the road on the west berm and struck a drainage ditch with the undercarriage.After impact the truck became airborne for 38-feet and struck a tree with the left driver's side. After impact with the tree the truck spun in a counter-clockwise direction and traveled 32-feet before coming to rest on the passenger side.Gilbert was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for several hours while the scene was investigated, troopers said. Damages were severe to the truck.
