A Northumberland County man is facing a charge of public drunkenness following an incident in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Kenneth Wetzel, 48, of Shamokin, was walking along SR924 in East Union Township, about 1 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, when he stopped to have a cigarette.

While sitting on the guide rail Wetzel flipped over it and rolled down a steep embankment and was stuck there until troopers arrived and assisted him.

Wetzel was found to be highly intoxicated.

He was transported to St. Catherine's Hospital, Ashland, for treatment of a knee injury, troopers said.

He was cited and then released.
