Walk Around the Block with Betsy

On Sunday, May 23, Betsy Burnhauser will conduct a "Walk around the Block," to point out, describe, and give the history of the various buildings that now or formerly encircled the Borough Park, including those on Delaware Avenue.

Attendance is free, and is in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Palmerton Area Historical Society.

Participants should gather at the Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Avenue, before 2 p.m.

The rain date is May 30.

For more information, call Betsy at (610) 767-2711.

High School Bloodmobile results

Miller-Keystone Blood Center's bloodmobile visit to Palmerton Area High School on May 11, resulted in 24 units of blood being collected.

The low number was attributed to several regular donors still being involved in spring sports. School faculty and staff contributed to the total.

Helen Steinmetz and Geraldine Van Buskirk acted as canteen aides. National Honor Society students who assisted included Jill Farkas, Courtney Gruber, Elizabeth Hahn, Billy Heinick, Amber Hettler, Robert Keyser, Maddie Koller, Liz Raub, Kaitlin Reimer, Jordan Ruzicka, Sara Smiley, and Derek Szena (Several others who had agreed to help were not needed because the small number of donors resulted in an early finish.)

The next community visit by Miller-Keystone will be on Friday, June 4.
