St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Nesquehoning is celebrating its 75th anniversary or diamond jubillee. The parish is currently preparing for the anniversary celebration, which will take place on Sunday, Sept. 19. The day will include a hierarchical divine liturgy at 10 a.m., with the main celebrant, his Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas; followed by a special banquet at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe. Mailings have been sent out to parishioners in regards to the celebration and RSVPs for the divine liturgy and banquet are due by June 1. To announce the anniversary, the Rev. Robert Teklinski, left, and Teddy Pathroff, hung a banner on the front of the church recently.
