A former Slatington borough manager who was fired last year has sued borough officials over the incident.

Herb Pfeiffer filed a federal lawsuit earlier this month against borough officials one year after he was terminated from the position.Pfeiffer was terminated on a 6-0 vote by borough council at a workshop session in May of 2009. Hired Sept. 15, 2008, Pfeiffer replaced former borough manager John Kasten, who resigned from the position in March of 2008.Contacted Monday, Pfeiffer declined to comment on the lawsuit, as did borough solicitor Edmund J. Healy."The borough never, ever, talks about personnel matters with members of the press or general public," Healy said. "It's just not something that we would ever discuss with the press or the public."Council, at its Nov. 24 workshop session, appointed Stephen Salvesen, of Hanover Township, as the new borough manager at a salary of $60,000.Salvesen was among 22 candidates to apply for the position.
