The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has announced the following programs at Locust Lake State Park.

On Saturday, July 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Locust Lake amphitheatre, guest presenter Bill Munroe will talk about reptiles.During his presentation, Munroe will use live specimens, including a rattlesnake and northern copperhead to try to dispel myth from fact regarding snakes.He has worked with timber rattlesnakes for 50 years.He will also talk about his experiences working with these special animals and how he has become an advocate for them.In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the program shelter. All children must be accompanied by an adult.On Sunday, July 4, at 8 p.m., at the amphitheatre, naturalist George Gress will conduct a program on bog turtles.Gress is a fire specialist/land steward for the Nature Conservancy and manages the bog turtle program in Pennsylvania. He also is a nature photographer and has been featured in various publications.Bog turtles are the smallest turtles that occur here in Pennsylvania. They are federally listed as threatened and are protected under the Endangered Species Act.This presentation includes a photo journey into the habitat and lives of bog turtles.In case of inclement weather, the presentation will be held in the program shelter.
