Stately trees and terraced hills form a serene and majestic backdrop for the well-manicured grounds at The Skyview Memorial Park in Hometown. The graves of those veterans who served this country are well-marked in observance of today's Flag Day. While the origin of Flag Day dates back to the late 19th century, its inspiration takes us back to Philadelphia in 1777 when on June 14 of that year, the Continental Congress passed a resolution specifying that the flag carry 13 stripes and 13 stars.
