Penn Forest firemen had the distinction of leading a parade in Quakertown. It happened because the company in 1969 bought its fire truck from the Quakertown Fire Co. No. 1. The Quakertown company dedicated its new firehouse. A parade marked the occasion and the company wanted its old truck to lead it. The Penn Forest firemen made the trip and had the front spot. The truck was driven by Robert Solt, Penn Forest fire chief. Riding with him was H. Louis Kresge, member of the company, and the Quakertown fire chief.
