Slatington Public Library

Geraldine Schafer and her students have created an undersea world in the front window of the Slatington Public Library, complete with mermaids and sand castles.

The Wonderful World of Wildlife summer program will begin on Wednesday, June 30, at 10 a.m., and will run for seven weeks during the summer. Children ages 3 to grade 5 are welcome. There is no fee. The program is sponsored by the Lehigh Gap Nature Center. All are welcome.

The library would like to thank everyone who contributed to its annual fundraising campaign, and encourage anyone who hasn't yet, to support your local library. The library offers books, audio books, computers, magazines, and movies.

The library will hold its annual Chinese Auction on Sept. 21, at the Diamond Fire Company, Main St., Walnutport, and is looking for donations of handcrafted items, gift certificates, gift baskets, or like new items. Items can be dropped off at the library during operational hours. Items will be displayed with the donors name in the window at the end of the summer until the week of the event. Please help make this another successful event.

The library accepts book donations, with the exception of encyclopedias, text books, and Reader's Digest. There is always a used book sale.

Library hours are Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Thursday and Sunday. For more information call Louise Bechtel at (610) 767-6461.
