Sues over accident

Jose Picart and Sanali Picart, husband and wife, of Allentown, filed a civil action against Joseph Miller, Tyrone R.3, Pa., seeking an award for injuries the husband sustained in an accident on Oct. 31, 2007, on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. A jury trial is demanded.

The complaint says Picart was traveling north on the Northeast Extension of the turnpike, about nine miles south of the Pocono Interchange, when a vehicle operated by the defendant crashed into the rear of the plaintiff's vehicle, causing serious injuries to him.

The plaintiff alleges Miller's careless and negligent acts resulted in the plaintiff sustaining right shoulder, knee, cervical and lumbar spine injuries.

A second cause of action is contained in the complaint on behalf of Sanali Picart, who claims to have suffered loss of consortium because of her husband's injuries.

Negligence charged

The All State Insurance Company, as subrogee of May Dover, Roanoke., Va., has filed a civil action against Picone Construction, Inc., 1126 Main Rd., Lehighton.

The plaintiff contends that on or about Feb. 13, 2008, due to negligence on the part of the defendant, the plaintiff's insured sustained damages in the amount of $3,019.99, which the defendant has failed to pay.

In a claims history report, the plaintiffs contend the defendant was hired to do renovation work at the insured's home, which included taking off the entire roof when adding a second level. The plaintiff contends that despite assurances by the contractor that inclement weather would not damage the property, the home sustained water damages on two occasions, including the chimney leaking into the fireplace and the walls and ceilings sustaining water damages.

All State is seeking the above-listed sum, $364 in interest, and court costs.
