Weatherly's only supermarket closed its doors for good on Sunday.

Agosti's Food Store at 20 W. Main St. has closed and is the second market operated by the Agosti family that had been closed in the past six months.The Agosti family closed its Hometown store last September and blamed the Walmart Store that opened in 2007 along SR309 in Rush Township and the bad economy as the reason.The family has one store remaining open, the Mahanoy City Food Store.The Agosti family stores were operated by Ermano Agosti and his wife, Diane. Agosti's five children sons Joseph, James, Steven, Robert and daughter Patricia Confer all worked at the stores. James and Patricia presently operate the Mahanoy City store.Ermano Agosti began his career in the grocery business as a A&P employee in 1949. He worked for A&P for 21 years before coming a store owner himself.The Weatherly store opened in 1998 and the Hometown store, the first operated by the family, opened in 1970.
