Colts and Panthers win golf matches

Marian and Panther Valley came away with Schuylkill League golf wins to highlight scholastic action on Tuesday.


Lourdes Regional-Jim Thorpe

The visitors' Neil Channa and Ali Singh fired rounds of 82 and 86 to lead Lourdes to a Schuylkill League win, 366-390, over the Olympians.

The Olympians' Dean DiBonifazio led the locals with a team-low round of 85.

The top four Colts bested the best Minersville golfer and beat the Miners, 322-410 in Schuylkill League play.

Nick Kweder led the way for all golfers with a medalist effort 76 and Eric Mason had a 78.

Nick Mione's 89 was best for the Miners.

Mahanoy Area-Schuylkill Haven-Panther Valley

The Panthers downed visiting Schuylkill Haven and Mahanoy Area.

Kory Lopata's medalist round (77) helped the Panthers put together a team score of 325, besting Mahanoy's 379 and Haven's 388.

Phil Dohner's 88 was tops from the 'Canes, while John Brinich shot a 90 to lead the Golden Bears.

Matt Tucker's 80 helped his team improve to 5-0 on the season.

Weatherly suffered two golf setbacks to Williams Valley and Nativity.

Alex Mansell led Nativity with a 77. Teammates Cody Chaklos (80), Bailey High (86) and Mark Clay (89) all shot under 90 as well.
