H1N1 flu vaccines available for all school age children
The Pleasant Valley School District will be offering free H1N1 flu vaccines for any school age child living within the Pleasant Valley School District, whether they attend PV, are homeschooled, enrolled in cyberschool or attend a school outside the district. It will also be available for district employees who fall in the designated risk group. The clinic will be available Wednesday, Dec. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 17 from 4:15-8 p.m. at the high school's new gym.
PVSD has a new president of the school board. Susan Kresge was nominated on and approved for the position and MiChele Palmer was nominated and approved for vice president, both unanimously except without the vote of director Russ Gould who was absent.New board member, James Spinola stated he would be interested in being considered for the position of vice president but was not nominated.Thomas Murphy and Harvey Frable were both re-elected.Charles Hoffman was selected to serve as a Monroe County Technical Institute (MCTI) representative for a term that will expire Dec. 2012. Other representatives are Susan Kresge, term expiring Dec. 2010 and Linda Micklos, term expiring 2011.MCTI alternates are: John Sabia and Russ Gould.The Pennsylvania School Boards Associaiton (PSBA) liaison is Susan Kresge with term expiring Dec. 6, 2010.Ms. Kresge thanked MiChele Palmer for the great job she did while serving as school board president for the last two years and she thanked Ryan Hinton for his years of service and wished him a speedy recovery.Dr. Douglas Arnold thanked MiChele Palmer for a terrific job done as the PVSD board president for the last two years and thanked Ryan Hinton for his work on the board stating he was a conscientious board member. He welcomed new board member, James Spinola.Dr. Arnold received a letter of thanks sent from Doug Atherton, Assistant Scoutmaster from BSA Troop 98, thanking Ms. Viola Murphy for her assistance on the use of the John C. Mills cafeteria. The scouts were able to collect 1,398 items for the PVEN food bank.Dr. Arnold received a letter of thanks that was sent to Elvin Mercado, custodian at PVHS, from the PV Band Parents for his help during their fruit drive.New board member Spinola voted "No" on the treasurer's report of accounts payable and policy revisions. He also voted "No" on approval of refund of $459.89 for Homestead Application Parcel 13/5/0-3 due to an error associated with aname change and not an owenership or assessment change, which Harvey Frable and Charles Hoffman also voted "No" on. It was approved with a 5-3 vote.Chris Fisher, Assistant to the Superintendent for Professional and Support Services, reported that PVSD now has HAC, Home Access Center capability where parents and students can view student registration, scheduling, attendance, assignments, and grade information by visiting the PV website,
