Six sentenced on criminal counts

Six people who had previously entered guilty pleas to criminal charges or found guilty by a jury were sentenced by Schuylkill County judges as follows:

Kyle Roy Kocher, 20, 603 Stoney Run Road, Pottsville, who entered a guilty plea last August to charges of recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief, was sentenced by Judge D. Michael Stine to serve six to 23 months in the county prison, pay a fine of $150 and court costs, pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, a $50 per month supervision fee and make restitution of $1,411.64 to State Farm Insurance Company. He is qualified to participate in the work release program. Kocher was cited by Trooper Eric Reber.Ronald Robert Schaeffer, 48, of 42 Water St., New Philadelphia, who pleaded guilty last Aug. 27 to a charge of sexual abuse of children by disseminating sexual material and possession of obscene and sexual materials, was sentenced by Stine to serve 11 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison followed by five years on probation, pay a fine of $200 and court costs and pay $50 to the CJEA fund. He received credit for serving 45 days in jail. Schaeffer was cited by Trooper Roy Eiler.Michael Seth Jenkins, 29, Frackville, who had pleaded guilty last Sept. 8 to simple assault, was placed on probation for 18 months by Stine, fined $1,200 and court costs and pay $50 to the CJEA fund and a $50 monthly supervision fee. He also must perform 50 hours of community service. Jenkins was cited by Officer Michelle Ashman, Frackville police.Brendon John Hasara, 37, of 30 S. Ninth St., Mahanoy City, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance was placed on probation by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin for 12 months, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund and on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia to serve an additional 12 months on probation, make restitution of $117 to the Bethlehem Regional Lab and pay a $50 monthly supervision fee and costs of prosecution. Hasara was cited by Patrolman Christopher Zubris, Mahanoy City police.Joshua Robert Ptaszkowski, 20, of 38 S. Catherine St., Shenandoah, who last September was found guilty by a jury of criminal charges was sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes. On the charge of burglary he was ordered to undergo imprisonment for 11 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison and on a charge of simple assault to serve an additilonal 12 months on probation to begin at the expiration of his first sentence, pay a fine of $200 and court costs, pay $50 to the CJEA fund and a $50 monthly supervision fee. He received credit for serving 195 days in the county jail. He was cited by Patrolman Jason Hayes, Shenandoah police, for burglary of a property in 400 block on West Oak Street.Rachel T. Marcus, 28, of 736 Sunbury Road, Minersville, who was adjudged guilty by Judge Jacqueline Russell of criminal charges placed Marcus in the state Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for two years in order to be able to obtain treatment for drug and alcohol abuse in a state thereapeutic community. The defendant must pay $50 to the CJEA fund, $100 to the SAE fund, restitution of $100 to the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force and $113 to the Bethlehem Regional Lab.John Walter Archibald, 22, Schuylkill Haven, following a hearing had his probation revoked from a sentence imposed by Stine on July 13, 2008, by failing to notifiy his probation officer within 48 hours of a new arrest and for possession of narcotics. Stine resentenced Archibald to serve the balance of his sentence, nine to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 85 days
