Trees for Troops kicks off at Yenser's Tree Farm on Dec. 4

Yenser's Tree Farm in Lehighton is kicking off the Trees For Troops promotion this weekend.

House Speaker Keith McCall is joining Yenser's Tree Farm and is encouraing people in Lehighton and beyond to help deliver some holiday spirit to our troops serving overseas withe the "Trees for Troops" program.Trees for Troops weekend will kick off at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4. Yenser's Tree Farm is located at 1910 Mahoning Drive East, just outside of Lehighton on Route 902.McCall will be joined by retired U.S. Air Force General M. J. Barry. Representatives from FedEx and the Pennsylvania National Guard will load the trees purchased by area residents that will be delivered free of charge by FedEx to troops serving on active duty.During this weekend, trees purchased for delivery to the troops can be purchased for $25 each and anyone purchasing a Tree for Troops gets a 10 percent discount on the purchase of another tree.Trees for Troops began in 2005 when the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation provided 4,300 real Christmas trees to military families at five bases in the U.S. and overseas, and co-sponsor FedEx agreed to provide free shipping.
