Vince Neil at Penn's Peak

The Voice of Motley Crue is headed to Penn's Peak Thursday night.

Fresh off of Crue Fest 2, frontman Vince Neil is out on a solo tour, showcasing his own material.As a member of Motley Crue, along with Tommy Lee on drums, Nikki Sixx on bass and Mick Mars on guitar, Neil, a native of Compton, California who fronted the band Rock Candy prior to forming the Crue, roared out of Los Angeles in the 1980's, heading to the forefront of the Hair Metal band movement thanks to a dedication to rock and roll excess.Motley Crue racked up millions in sales with its outrageous approach and rock anthems like "Shout At The Devil," "Home Sweet Home," "Girls, Girls, Girls," "Dr. Feelgood," "Kickstart My Heart," "Same Ol Situation," and the recent "Saints of Los Angeles," which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.Vince has had a tempestuous relationship with his Cruemates over the years. At one point he was out of the band, only to rejoin the Crue as it roared back into prominence. Motley Crue remains a favorite on the concert circuit with outlandish tours such as Carnival of Sin.Motley Crue spent the past year and a half playing before more than a million rock fans worldwide through Crue Fest, the top rock festival of 2008 and Crue Fest 2, a topsummer rock festival once again his year.On his own, Vince's albums, Exposed and Carved In Stone have featured the hits "You're Invited (But Your Friend Can't Come)" (which Neil co-wrote with Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Tommy Shaw of Styx), "Can't Have Your Cake" (co-written by Neil with Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens) and "Sister Of Pain" (co-written with Blades and Shaw).Outside of his musical career, Neil maintains a charitable foundation and is involved in a number of successful business ventures.The Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation (www.skylarneil.org), a tribute to Vince's daughter, whom he lost to cancer in 1995, to date has raised over $2 million to help combat childhood cancer.Neil's entrepreneurial efforts include Feelgoods Rock Bar and Grill in West Palm Beach and Las Vegas; Vince Neil Ink, a Las Vegas based body art shop with two locations; Tres Rios tequila and Vince Neil Aviation.Vince Neil will perform at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe on Thursday, Nov. 17.
