Two new ordinances are in the Polk pipeline for township legislation. The first will create a new definition under conditional use in the residential zones only concerning care of a family member who is 55 years or older or has a disability. Several stipulations will be incorporated into the ordinance, including getting a permit for the use renewed annually as long as the situation remains as is and also the conversion back to a single family use once the conditional use applied for is ended.

The second ordinance will disallow parking on township roads. That issue was brought to the attention of the supervisors by Terry Klingel who noted a resident and business owner is again parking his business vehicles, complete with signs advertising his firm, on Rena Road "all night long." He voiced concern for someone driving on said road at night and possibly getting injured, noting that then the township would be liable.Chairman H. Lee Everett told the township solicitor to "work on that ordinance quick," with the supervisors three agreeing that the ordinance should cover all public roads in the township. Once in place, the ordinance would give the state police enforcement tools.In light of Wednesday being Veteran's Day and yet a township solid waste day, township employees were polled as to who would work that day and who would take vacation. In light of the responses, it was announced that the solid waste and recycling center will be open this Wednesday. Employees who work this will take another day as their holiday day.After a brief executive session dealing with personnel, the supervisors agreed to let one employee go due to the township's lack of work.The Supervisors agreed to post the township property with No Hunting signs and discussed the situation pertaining to damages at Dotter's Corner's cemetery. Among the suggestions were dropping the speed limit to 35 miles per hour or putting up guide rails.Chairman H. Lee Everett resigned from the EIT county wide taskforce and the current EIT collector will be asked is she is interested in serving on that entity.Several zoning matters are before the Zoning Officer and two, he reported, are pending in court.Next year's township budget is being worked on and so far the news is that solid waste permits will not go up nor will real estate taxes.
