Lehighton woman given jail term for assault incident

A Lehighton woman was sentenced to a Carbon County prison term this week for assaulting a health care worker.

Lori Lee Gerberich, 22, was sentenced by Judge David W. Addy to serve one day less one year to one day less two years followed by six years of probation.She was arrested on July 21, 2008, by Franklin Township police for a incident in which Roseanna Kinard was the listed victim. The police report indicated that Kinard was a health care worker and was assaulted by Gerberich.It was noted by defense Atty. Joseph Perilli that his client has a history of mental health disorders and is currently receiving extensive counseling.Addy ordered that Gerberich be immediately furloughed from the county prison to the Resources for Human Development Inc. program at its facility in Bethlehem to continue her mental health counseling and treatment. She was also ordered to make restitution of $24,000 and suppply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.
