The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., in the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart.Last week's meeting was attended by 76 members. One new member, Jack Nee, was welcomed. President Jean Yanick conducted the business session.Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld offered her weekly report. The membership total has reached 188.Vice President Jean Behr was added to the sick list. Halloween treats were distributed to all in attendance.Eleanor Roberts offered an invocation, entitled "Little Acts of Kindness." Readings were offered by Jean Machamer.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.SS. Peter and PaulFirst Friday observances will be held this week in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Communion calls for parishioners who reside in Coaldale and Hometown will be made on Thursday. Otherwise, communion calls will begin on Friday, at 9 a.m., following the 8 a.m. Mass and devotions.Fatima Saturday will be celebrated on Nov. 7. Confessions will be heard beginning at 7:30 a.m. A recitation of the Rosary and devotions will be held before the 8 a.m. Mass.The parish Holy Rosary Society will attend the 8 a.m. Mass this Sunday and receive Holy Communion as a group. New members are always welcome.The Holy Name Society will meet this Thursday, at 8 p.m. The meeting will be preceded by a Mass, beginning at 7:30 p.m.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy-Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Harvest Home Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Canned good donations will be donated to a local food pantry. Nursery care will be provided. The service will be followed by a luncheon. Sunday school classes for all ages will begin at 11 a.m. The weekly service will be broadcast on radio station WLSH, 1410 AM, at 11:30 a.m.Activities for next week will include: Dream Team meeting at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.St. John's is sponsoring a Christmas Extravaganza on Nov. 28.
