Two of the regions best polka bands will be bringing their music to Penn's Peak for a "Polkafest" at 2 p.m. Sunday.

On stage will be John Stanky & the Coalminers and The Pennsylvania Villagers. Doors open at 1 p.m. and there's a general admission fee of $13.John Stanky, the proclaimed "Gentleman Of Polkas," began his musical career in 1945. He formed his first band in 1950, changing their name to the "Coalminers" in 1962, as some of the players worked the mines.The group has recorded many albums,and has performed on cruise ships as well as numerous tours to Holland, Germany,Italy,Switzerland, Austria, South America, China and many other fabulous places.John has composed more than 40 songs. His most popular is the "Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie Polka."His "Hats Off To Pennsylvania" has been considered for the state song.They are so popular that they are already on schedule to play the Oberammergau in Germany, a world-renowned Passion play that usually sells out two years in advance, in 2010.The Pennsylvania Villagers started 34 years ago with three siblings and their cousin, and they still continue to play today.Various members have come and gone through the years, as with most bands, but they have managed to hold their own and continue playing.
