Fire at New Philadelphia pub was deliberate

A fire that destroyed a Schuylkill County pub was incendiary in nature, a state police fire marshal has ruled.

Moe's Pub, located at 59 Water St., New Philadelphia, was destroyed by a fire that was discovered about 2:51 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The fire also caused damages to two nearby homes.The fire erupted about 20 minutes after the last patrons left the pub for the night, according to fire officials. By the time firemen arrived on scene the building was engulfed in flames with fire pouring from various windows and through the roof.The pub is owned by George Reppy, 31, of New Ringgold.Fire Marshal Trooper John Burns was on scene on Saturday along with Trooper Mark Demko.Homes at 53 and 55 Water St. were also damaged in the blaze.Fire crews from several neighboring communities responded to assist New Philadelphia firemen. It took several hours to bring the blaze under control and extinguish. No one was injured in the incident.The investigation into the incident is continuing.
