Monroe driver facing DUI count

A Monroe County motorcyclist is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a crash that occurred about 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, along SR534, west of Middle Creek Rd., in Polk Township.

State police at Lehighton said Thomas Lee VanHorn, 46, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2000 Harley Davidson FLSTF at the above location when he lost control while trying to shift a grocery bag. The bike went onto the berm and struck a guide rail post then slid back across the roadway.Troopers said VanHorn was under the influence of alcohol at the time. He was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of injuries. Polk Township Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.
