Two high school seniors die in Saturday crash

Two high school seniors were killed and four other persons injured in a crash Saturday night in Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County, involving three vehicles.

State police at Bethlehem identified the victims as Russell Jacoby, 17, of the 700 block of Lehigh Gap Rd., in Slatedale, and Angelica Elizabeth Fox, 17, of the 300 block of W. Walnut St., Nazareth. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was along Mountain Road, near Bake Oven Road, by members of the Lehigh Coroner's Office.Jacoby was a senior at Northern Lehigh High School and Fox was a senior at Nazareth Area High School.Troopers said the 2000 Dodge Neon sedan the two were in was passing another vehicle while eastbound near the crest of a hill. When attempting to move back into the eastbound lane from the westbound lane the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a 2006 GMS Sierra pickup truck which was headed westbound.The Neon the teens were in was split in half and all the passengers were ejected. The car had two other persons in it. Troopers have not determined who was driving the Neon.In the pickup was Scott Pace and Deborah Pace, both 51, of Walnutport. Both were also injured.The third vehicle involved was a 1966 Chrysler Imperial occupied by Rob Frisch, 51, and Rebecca McMichael, 30, both of Lehighton. They were not injured in the crash.The two other teens in the car were not identified by troopers. One was a 17-year-old male from Walnutport, who was flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, while and the other teen, a 16-year-old female from Slatington, was flown by helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Injuries were termed serious to both teens.The Paces' were both taken to LVH. Mrs. Pace was admitted in critical condition while her husband was admitted in stable condition.Assisting at the scene were volunteers from the Goodwill Fire Company and Northwestern EMS units.The investigation into the crash is continuing.
