The 39th annual Lehighton Area Halloween Parade will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.

Julie Harris, parade committee chairman, said nominations are being sought for the parade's grand marshall.Anyone wanting to nominate someone to serve as grand marshallNominations can be sent to: Lehighton Halloween Parade Committee, P. Box 241, Lehighton, PA 18235.The deadline for nominations is Sept. 19.Registration forms are available to marching bands, groups, and individuals who want to participate in the parade.They can be obtained at Lehighton Municipal Building, Diggity Dogg, Larry Markley Insurance, Carbon County Music & More, Jim Thorpe National Bank's Lehighton Branch, and Zimmerman's Dairy.The entry deadline is Friday, Oct. 2.The parade will be televised by Blue Ridge Communication TV 13.Harris said the parade runs entirely through donations. Donations can be sent to the parade committee at the above address.The parade will form at 3 p.m. on the day of the parade at Ninth and Coal Streets.The route is on Coal Street to Third Street, south on Third to Mahoning Street, and west on Mahoning to Eighth Street.It disbands at the Lehighton Community Grove.
