Polk Elementary PTO meeting

The Polk Elementary School PTO will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 in the school library.

School needs volunteers

Pleasant Valley Elementary School is in need of parents to volunteer to work with students in the classrooms. Tutors will be assigned to one classroom for the school year. Many children will benefit from individualized help when learning to count, identify letters and sounds, and learning multiplication tables. Some children will benefit just by being read to. They are also in need of parents to work on a computer phonemic awareness program with the kindergarten students.

If you could volunteer for at least one hour, two mornings or afternoons a week, your help will be greatly appreciated. If you are interested contact Dave Weinman or Monica Williamson at (570) 402-1000. Volunteers will be contacted to attend an informal training session in September. They would then like the tutors to start services in early October. It is very important to remember that other children are not permitted in the building during school hours. They appreciate the gift of your time and help, however, please do not bring younger siblings to your volunteer session.
