'Click it or ticket' campaign set

Published November 12. 2009 05:00PM

State police Troop L will be participating in the national "click it or ticket" campaign from Nov. 16-28. This is an effort by state police to keep state highways safe during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

If a driver is stopped, and anyone in the vehicle is not properly restrained, the driver can receive two citations.

Under state law every operator and front seat passenger shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt. Children under age 4 must be in a child passenger safety seat (anywhere in the vehicle) and children ages 4-8 must be securely fastened in a booster seat anywhere in the vehicle.

A driver under the age of 18 may not operate a vehicle in which the number of passengers exceeds the number of seat belts.

During this time Troop L will also be offering free child passenger seat inspections at locations in the troop's coverage area. There is no cost for this service.

In the TIMES NEWS area of Troop L the seat inspections will be conducted at the Frackville barracks on Monday, Nov. 23, from 2 to 5 p.m. Contact Trooper Minalda at (570) 874-5300 or Trooper Sanchez at (570) 593-2000, for more information.
