Berks driver cited after collision

A Berks County driver was cited following a two vehicle crash that occurred about 5:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, along SR61 at the entrance to the Cressona Mall in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Marcy J. Fike, 39, of Hamburg, was northbound in a 2000 Ford Focus and approaching the intersection at the mall entrance. She made a left turn in front of a southbound 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by a 17-year-old female from Orwigsburg. The Ford was struck on the passenger side by the Toyota, troopers said.After impact the Ford rolled onto its roof and came to rest at the entrance of the mall. The Toyota came to rest in the intersection of the southbound lanes.Fike, the juvenile and the juvenile's three passengers, ages 16, 17 and 15, were all not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.Troopers said Fike will be cited.Troopers also investigated a crash about 4:10 p.m. on Monday along SR3002 (Sweet Arrow Lake Road), two-tenths of a mile west of Spittler Road, in Pine Grove Township.Troopers said Bryan M. Rhen, 20, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1995 Ford Escort eastbound when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road. The car spun counter-clockwise and went onto the south berm where it struck a utility pole with the back end of the vehicle. After impact the car spun counter-clockwise and struck a utility guide wire.The car then continued through a yard at a residence and came to rest.Rhen and his 17-year-old passenger were injured. Troopers said Rhen will be cited.
