Tamaqua targets aggressive driving

Tamaqua Police Chief Rick Weaver issues a citation early Wednesday on SR309 at the south end of borough limits. Police also were stationed at the north end of town, part of a program to stop aggressive driving, The $2.5 million initiative, taking place through May 4, is made possible through a grant from the Special Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project administered by PennDOT. Tamaqua police will have units stationed along major highways conducting special enforcement activities, targeting motorists exhibiting signs of aggressive driving behavior such as running red lights, speeding and tailgating.
